NISI Yachts has been awarded a new contract to build a semi-custom NISI 2400 for a prominent Northeast American business couple. The couple commissioned their new build within weeks of first seeing NISI’s American debut at the Miami Yacht and Brokerage Show.

NISI, the icon of casual opulence and legendary styling with unsurpassed engineering, is renowned for her superior lifestyle experience and attractive blend of simplicity. Solitary in her class, NISI is the first yacht in the world under 100 feet available to RINA Charter Class + MCA (MGN280) commercial standards.

Custom layouts and engineering specifications requested by her owners have resulted in numerous onboard comfort convenience upgrades, including an expanded flybridge, hull lengthened by two feet, and a four-person Jacuzzi spa on her main aft-deck cockpit.

Owner specifications call for propulsion to be provided by only two propulsion pods with performance approaching 30 knots, unlike typical yachts in this class requiring a three or four pod propulsion package. To achieve this objective, advanced weight management engineering and construction methods will integrate extensive epoxy and carbon fiber laminates throughout.

The increased efficiency and enhanced performance have earned this semi-custom NISI the “GT” designation.

“NISI is the most coveted yacht in a decade. Her groundbreaking design introduces the quality and character of a superyacht in a series range from 68 feet to 86-feet long. She rewards her owners their own true sense of occasion,” sites Christos Livadas, CEO and Founder of NISI Yachts. “Her owners fell in love at first sight with NISI’s styling and state-of-the-art features and acted decisively on their feelings. In addition to the peerless style and cutting-edge technology, her owners value NISI’s fuel and energy efficiencies as well as their ability to run without a crew should they choose to.”

Hull #2 – NISI 2400GT is scheduled to launch in summer 2012 at the modern shipyard of NISI’s exclusive builder, Tricon Marine Group.

NISI’s Legendary Styling

NISI is an instant modern classic; seamlessly tying lines of the past with the shape of the future. Beneath the surface, she boasts state-of-the-art technology and combines outstanding performance with casual opulence. Her plumb bow, wave-piercing hull, pod propulsion system, and stabilizers produce performance at speed. From the pinnacle of the arch atop her command deck, to the covered wheelhouse, to the sparkling stainless steel stanchions and rugged lifelines that circle the deck, NISI turns heads wherever she goes.

World-class craftsmanship can be found in every detail of NISI. Quality finishes flow throughout to create an expansive feel; a serene, zen-like atmosphere that is soothing, airy and bright with large windows revealing stunning views of sea and sky.

NISI sacrifices neither luxury nor comfort for simplicity and convenience. Her generous open plan erases the line between indoors and outdoors and allows owners to customize their space in simple, dramatic, wildly romantic, or sensual designs.

Setzer Design Group mixes classical and modern themes in a different sort of composition.

By Dennis Caprio / Published: December 2010

http://www.yachtingmagazine.com/how-to/design-performance/nisi-2400

If the NISI 2400 were a piece of music, she’d be the Suite for Cello & Jazz Piano Trio, written in the 1980s by jazz pianist Claude Bolling, and performed by him; Marc Michel, bass; Jean-Luc Dayan, drums; and the incomparable Yo-Yo Ma on cello. In this composition, Bolling masterfully combined classical and contemporary jazz themes. The result is a delightful romp that leaves listeners agape — loving the sound or hating it, but simply unable to ignore it. I suspect that the NISI 2400 may affect yachtsmen in the same way.

Tricon Marine, builder of the NISI line of yachts, and the Setzer Design Group collaborated on this design, and the thinking behind it appears in the company’s brochure: “Size and length are no longer taken as the key expression of an owner’s needs. Now owners are turning toward a yacht with a focus on design and function that is a unique expression of themselves.” Even a casual examination of the rendering tells us that they got the unique part right.

The NISI 2400 is a complex blend of traditional and modern themes. Her nearly plumb stem recalls an element that appeared consistently on the commuter yachts of the 1930s. Although Setzer’s take on this classic design cue looks very much like its antecedents from the waterline up, it hints at a finer and deeper entry than was common in the 1930s. Tricon calls it a wave-piercing bow.

Another deviation from the classical style is the absence of flare in the forward sections. Instead, Setzer has divided the nearly vertical topsides into lower and upper sections, delineated by what seems like a simple character line — something common on modern automobiles to break up the expanse of metal. The lower section reminds me of the business end of a World War II destroyer. Above this line, the hull broadens, which increases volume inside the yacht and enhances reserve buoyancy in the bow, helping to keep it from burying in steep head seas. Under less boisterous conditions, the chine that you see in the rendering discourages the sea from climbing up the topsides.

This is a busy design, and maintaining a civil relationship among its various elements — design cues from early in the 20th century mingling with contemporary ones — could not have been easy. The small, round portlights, for example, hark back to the early 1900s and fit well with the stem. Farther aft, the windows are definitely modern but wouldn’t look out of place in an art deco exhibit. The shape of the smaller windows, and the bar that splits each in half, extend the “character line” to its logical conclusion in the vent back aft. The large window, though it has a greater aspect ratio than its mates do, still enhances our perception of length along the topsides.

The sheer line of the NISI 2400 appears to have a tiny bit of reverse curvature, accented by the plunge of the transom and the beveled cap rail. It’s perfect for this design, giving the fanciful superstructure a solid visual base on which to rest. The house is as upright as that of a steam yacht from the early 1900s and, in a less thoughtful design, could have overwhelmed the aesthetics — made it top-heavy. Although the structure is tall, the slender mullions of the windows and the apparent space between the flying buttresses and the coachroof seem to make the structure above it float on air. The large windows of the house will give the owner’s crew and guests nearly unobstructed sight lines and, along with the skylight, flood the salon, galley and inside helm with natural light.

Tricon Marine plans to introduce the NISI 2400 to the public at the 2011 Miami International Boat Show in February.

Palm Beach, Florida, January 6, 2011 – Argos Yachts delivered and sold its flagship Argos Gulfstream 92 (Argos G92) to a South Florida couple just in time for the holiday season.

Shown recently at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in late October 2010, the Argos G92 was the first hull crafted in the limited-edition Argos Gulfstream series. Argos Yachts guarantees limited production each year; an industry first that contributes to superior investment value.

“Her new owners respect her exceptional engineering, first-class craftsmanship, well-executed and laid out spaces and her enormous boat deck, which is a prominent, much-loved feature of the Argos series,” said Dave Adams, Vice President of Argos Yachts. “One of the buyers is a competitive ballroom dancer. She is looking forward to entertaining family and friends on the multipurpose deck. It is just a great example of how the world can truly be yours without compromise on an Argos Gulfstream.”

The buyers and their captain put the Argos G92 through a rigorous six-man-day survey, delighting everyone with her comfort, versatility and range of use in 20 knot winds and seas peaking at eight feet.

The Argos Gulfstream Series

A truly revolutionary yacht series, the Argos Gulfstream boasts unsurpassed detailing, amenities, and a hybrid hull that combines long range with high-speed performance never before offered in vessels of similar size and class. The semi-custom series is available in 70 to 100-foot models and on a custom basis from 105 to 145 feet.

The Argos G92 features an industry-first in her class: an unconstrained second-deck master SkySuite™ stateroom. Positioned amidship above deck, the SkySuite™ is secluded, maintaining a level of owner privacy that is simply not available on other vessels of comparable size. Expansive windows supply breathtaking 270-degree panoramic views and ample natural sunlight. Separate his and her heads provide privacy and luxury.

In addition to the master SkySuite™, the Argos G92 includes three well-appointed guest staterooms and crew quarters for four. An additional Sky-Lounge design with galley-up custom layout is also available in this luxury series.

Technical Capabilities

Concept and design of the Argos Yachts series was carried out by the company’s internal design team, with naval architecture led by internationally renowned architect, Howard Apollonio.

Purpose built for challenging seas and frequent Gulf Stream crossings, the Argos G92 features a distinct seagoing profile with a low center of gravity and significantly reduced roll. Her proprietary hull is the world’s first true hybrid, providing excellent range and high-performance speed.

Engine options include high-horsepower packages that offer speeds of up to 33 knots, and are available from 600 hp to 2400 hp to meet owners’ personal performance preferences.

Get Onboard

The Argos G92’s new owners will be showing her off at the prestigious Miami Yacht and Brokerage Show, which takes place in February 2011 in Miami Beach. Please contact Argos Yachts to arrange a private viewing.

Palm Beach, Florida, October 5, 2010 – Tricon Marine has signed a contract to build a new custom Argos Gulfstream 70 (G70) for a private European buyer. The G70 is the latest addition to Tricon’s innovative, limited-edition Argos series. At a length of 70 feet (21.3 meters), the ruggedly stylish pilothouse yacht will be built at Tricon’s state-of-the-art shipyard, with launch scheduled for late 2011.

The new sale heralds the expansion of Tricon’s Argos Gulfstream series of luxury, offshore performance yachts. Argos Gulfstream yachts boast unsurpassed detailing, amenities and performance never before offered in vessels of similar size and class. The G70 complements Argos Gulfstream designs in lengths of 78, 82, 92 and 100 feet.

Purpose built for challenging seas and frequent Gulf Stream crossings, Argos Gulfstream yachts feature a unique profile, with a low center of gravity and significantly reduced roll. Her proprietary hull is the world’s first true hybrid, providing excellent range and high-performance speed.

The G70 will sleep six guests in three posh staterooms with ensuite heads. Additional luxury appointments include a large pilothouse, a spacious galley, a beautiful salon, a discrete day head, and a multipurpose split-level sundeck offering infinite possibilities for entertainers and sports enthusiasts alike. The G70 includes crew quarters for two.

The custom-built Argos G70 will be fitted with CAT C-12 715 HP engines. Tricon Marine expects a cruising speed of 17 knots and maximum speed of 20 knots, with a range of over 2,000 nautical miles at passage-making speeds.

Argos yachts are crafted under a limited-production guarantee, a first for the luxury yacht industry. Only three hulls across the entire series will be built each year, providing owners with the utmost distinction in ownership and superior investment value.
